The Maekawa House
I was able to visit the Edo Tokyo theme park, where
many buildings were built in the Edo & the Showa era. In
particular, the Maekawa house gave me special impression.
This house, originally was built in 1942,
re-constructed in this park in 1996, with most materials being moved
from the prototype house to. This was made of wood, with 2 floors and
the area of 110m2, but beautiful and harmonious.
Enter the main door from The North of the house, we
will get across a small road through the garden ahead. As the
designer’s intention, being outside in nature of the garden will make
people feel more pleasant. The garden from the Southern behind the house
is also very beautiful. We feel like we are in a fairytale house.
On the second floor of the house, with only a single beam and a row of pillars below, its structure is like a balcony. The upper floor has a working room, the bottom does not affect the installation of furniture, space is used perfectly. This is a great idea of the architect.
Its unique is the harmonious combination of traditional wooden elements with modern equipment. The great number of glass windows around simply serves the main purpose of bringing the natural light into a home in trend of European style. I was surprised that the building was built about 70 years ago.
So, it can be said that the Maekawa building brings new elements and leaves an unforgettable impression.
