Kizuna Ekiden 2019 in Hanoi
“Kizuna Ekiden 2019 - Running for traffic safety”

Ekiden is a long-distance running relay race that originated in Japan. In the race, each runner on a team runs the distance from one station to the next, and then hands off a cloth sash, or “tasuki”, to the next runner. At the tasuki transmission area, runners have to transfer the tasuki to the next team member within a designated time; if the tasuki is not handed over on time, the team will be excluded from the competition. The result is based on the total running time of the group. The tasuki passes from hand to hand among members of the group, a symbol of solidarity and “Kizuna” (friendship) that connects people.

It will start from Ly Thai To Garden; each team of 4 members has to finish a total of 8 rounds of Hoan Kiem lake (Hanoi), adding up to 14km, divided equally between team members: 2 rounds per runner.

There will be two categories for Vietnam Kizuna Ekiden 2019 in Ha Noi:
- The “Kizuna” category will follow the original rule, requiring each group to have at least one Vietnamese and one Japanese runner.
- The “Kizuna - 45th anniversary productive relationship between Vietnam and Japan” category is open to groups of 4 runners.

The Kizuna Ekiden relay race in 2019 took place on the morning of Nov. 17 in Hoan Kiem Lake area, Hanoi with the participation of more than 1,000 athletes from the police, police, businesses and people of the The two countries Vietnam and Japan.
