Sharing About Tokyo Waterworks Historical Museum From Mr. Cao Dinh Hoan Training In Japan

Tokyo Waterworks Historical Museum

Let’s find out the process of water supply from the Edo period to Tokyo today through Tokyo Waterworks historical museum.
Edo is the capital of Tokyo in the past. Edo-era water supply services are also referred to water supply, which leading to wells by stone or wooden gutters. People used this water for drinking and daily activities.

Although Edo was renamed to Edo during the Edo period, water works system remained unchanged. Some sever damages of wooden gutters were discovered which caused by canal pollution and wood decay, beyond that, water for fire fighting supply and drinking were needed, so a new system was designed and replaced.

Thus, in 1888 (Ming Dynasty), they began the construction and completed the system in 1911 (Meiji 44).  With a history of more than 400 years of development the Tokyo waterworks supply showed a high level of Japanese perception and the importance of water for human existence and development.  It is wonderful to visit the Tokyo History Museum to learn about Japanese history.
